matcha, matcha latte
I have a friend I follow on instagram, Randa, who is currently studying in London and posting swoon-worthy pics of her culinary adventures while she's there. Lately she has been posting her morning matcha latte art, which is just like any other latte art except it's on top of a mug of grassy green rather than earthy brown like espresso. I love green tea, and I love lattes, so I thought it was about time that I found a place in Cincinnati to introduce me to matcha. Essencha Tea House in Oakley boasts over 100 teas and tea beverages, as well as sandwiches, salads, soups and sweets. I had a soy matcha latte, Brian had their authentic chai latte (no syrup here!). The matcha was great and left me with a caffeine and antioxidant buzz that lasted through the afternoon. Matcha is actually a powder that is made by grinding whole green tea leaves. Using the whole leaf makes matcha an antioxidant super drink; sign me up! I'm not planning on saying goodbye to coffee or espresso anytime soon/ever but I wouldn't mind splurging on a weekly matcha latte.
